Strengthening Families Georgia Selected Accomplishments 2006-2010

Development included:

  • The Georgia Children’s Trust Fund Commission convened a group from the early childhood education and child abuse prevention sectors to develop a ten-year Strengthening Families plan. (2006)
  • Strengthening Families Georgia Vision, Mission, and Georgia’s first Strategic Plan (2007-08).
  • KCOY_CDKids Count on You: Protecting Children by Strengthening Families mandated reporter child abuse training and video (2007) and facilitation of a KCOY Training of Trainers for 109 DECAL Approved trainers.
  • gaprofileDeveloped annual Georgia Profile for the Center of the Study for Social Policy (2009)

Strengthening Families Protective Factors were embedded in several Georgia initiatives:

  • Georgia Association on Young Children Accreditation Facilitation Project (GAYC AFP) (2008)
  • Strengthening Families Protective Factors were embedded in nine Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) hubs supported by a small grant from the Center for the Study of Social Policy. (2009)
  • The Georgia Family Forum was held at five locations across the state in conjunction with the Center for the Study of Social Policy’s Strengthening Families Summit in Atlanta. A total of 215 individuals participated statewide. (October 27, 2009)
  • Prevent Child Abuse Georgia¬†embedded the Protective Factors into literature and training.
  • Parent Cafe Training brought to Georgia from Illinois by SFG. Twelve teams were trained and continue to provide Parent Cafes. (2010)
  • Sheltering Arms Early Education and Family Centers and the Georgia Training Institute offerings included Strengthening Families and Parent Cafe training.
